Lagavulin 16 years Single Malt (Islay, Skottland)
Grade: 5 (highly recommended)


It is from the islands of Islay and is owned by the United distillers. It established in 1816 and claims to be one of the oldest one in Scotland. The Distillery Today it is recognized to be one of the best whisky brands around the world.
It tastes firstly quite dry, however after it becomes more intense. The finish gives away that the whisky probably stored in sherry barrels. Lagavulin is not as strong or powerful as its neighbour Laphroaig however it is called Islays aristocracy for its wonderful balance and exceptional aftertaste.

Oban 14 years Single Malt (Western Highland, Skottland)

Grade: 4 (highly recommended)


Oban is located in the western part of Scotland and it is pronounced O-bn. The distillery is also among the oldest one in Scotland and were founded in 1793 (Oban Brewery Company) by the brothers John and Hugh Stevenson. Oban 14 is a part of the Six Classic Malts.
The colour is golden brown and has the sent of spices and is round with a little bit of smoke. The taste has character of malt and aroma with some roundness and is little bit smoky. The aftertaste has some softness and sweet malt.

The Balvenie 21 years, Single Malt (Speyside, Scottland)
Grade: 4 (recommended)

First time I had the chance to try this whisky was on a special whisky dinner in Beijing arranged by The Balvenie. The whisky is very nice and enjoyable and will always be recommended by us. Although you have to pay a certain price to enjoy it.

A perfume of fruity and ripe raisin notes, backed by a nutty dryness. The taste is refined with remarkable character, it is creamy and silk with fruit, honey and spice notes. It ends with a long, gentle and nutty finish.

Laphroaig 18 years, Single Malt (Islay, Scottland)
Grade: 5 (top 50 whisky in the world)

This 18 year old expression of Laphroaig is made in limited quantities each year and savoured by a fortunate few. A sofe, sweet and spicy Islay peat smoke greets you when you first open the bottle. The immediate taste is an oak sweetness, from 18 years in the barrel. A faint hint of the sea can be detected.
Just a hint of sweetness on the nose delicacy that developes towards a intense depth and exceptionally balanced flavour. The taste is warm, full of smoke, and smooth floral scents. With a touch of water makes the whisky even more wonderful.

Suntory Yamazaki 10 years Single Malt (Japan)

Grade: 3,5 (a must try!)


Suntory whisky is Japans oldest whisky distillery and it dates back to 1953. All knowledge is learnt from Skottland, which also is one reason for its good and unique quality.

Its colour is light yellow, however the smell is great, full of malt and some smokieness. It has carachteristics of spice, honey and dried fruits. Its taste is rich, clear taste of malt whisky and some spices and dried fruits.

Highland Park 16 years Single Malt (Orkney, Scottland)

Grade: 4,5 (highly recommended)


Highland Park was recently named 'Best spirit in the world' by whisky expert Paul Pacult in his 2005, Spirit Journal 100 listing of the world's best 100 distilled spirits.

Natural, bright and clear colour with sherried smoke piet and spicy tones. The taste is rich, full bodied, smokey and heather honey. It ends with a rich, long medium sweet to medium dry finish.
